Nashville – We Have Arrived!

Arriving just after midnight,  no hotel for the first night we had figured we would just go for it, maybe find an all night bar,  who am i kidding we are cheapskates well at least I am.  Now this is when Jackie came into her own, both Brooke and I were convinced we wouldn’t get an extra night free,  but Jackie being Jackie said why not just ask, nothing to lose right,  she called (Dream Hotel on 4th), explained to them them that we had just landed and could we get into our room early and she also pointed out that we didn’t want to pay for another night…. Brooke and I were total disbelievers, this would even be an option.  She got off the phone two minutes later with the news that yes we could get into our room at 3am.

We got to the hotel at one o’clock left our luggage at reception and the door man walked us out of the hotel’s back door into Printers Alley, which reminded me of a Harry Potter movie. He then proceeded to escort us to the only bar that was open (Ms. Kelli’s Karaoke Bar). We were the only sober people in the bar with 15 very drunk (happy drunk) patrons, and within 20 minutes we were chatting with a guy (Ayron Jones) who said  he knew my doppelganger, and after seeing a picture of her, I can confirm that  yes there is another person that looks very much like me, scary I know. He told us he had just made his first music video earlier that day and showed us the video.  Ayron talked about his family and then informed us that he was able to tell a lot about a person by looking at their rings, well of course we couldn’t resist and had consumed a couple of drinks by now so why not, he then proceeded to tell each of us in detail what we were like and he was so on point… Freeky!

We made it back to our hotel sometime around 3am and were soooo ready to sleep.

Broadway

Woke up before my girlfriends, which seemed to be par for course, got ready, went down and got us all a coffee, then the three of us started the day heading to Broadway.   OMG live music, all day all kinds in every bar or store, 3 levels, different genres, we loved it and were in our element, after all this is what we came to Nashville to do ….

  • Listen to Live Music
  • Shop
  • Observe the fun
  • Relax and have unfiltered fun

The game plan was to go down one side of Broadway and then work our way back up the other, one drink the occasional blotter and move on unless the music made us stay for another drink. We didn’t have a schedule,  we didn’t plan to have one and could please ourselves, which of course we did in style.
The Dream hotel on 4th and Broadway… Great staff, from the doorman, front desk to the bar staff in particular Eric. Now Eric is the barman  and has an English sense of humour  which tends to be on the sarcastic side, and funny lighthearted  sarcasm as I like to call it is something I gravitate to when in new surroundings.  Eric handled us with ease and gave as good as he got which made me and my friends feel very comfortable, and he always made sure we were taken care of..  Now I have to mention a couple of the servers, my bad as I did not get their names which  I regret terribly.  I loved these two young men and they made our time at the hotel very special, they were so friendly and authentic, they were always there  to make anyone feel special and welcome they provided a personal touch I feel only they could give. From the first night they would appear from what seemed like nowhere with my soda water, lime and no ice or straw, (Yes I’m needy) and I might add always before Eric (the barman) could, service or what!  I hope to do better as I move forward with this blog and highlight these individuals by name and do them justice because these two young men are truly unforgettable..

Those who don’t want credit usually deserve it more than most…  I am a firm believer that we get one life (again my belief) and we should live life authentically whatever that may mean to each of us,  everyone is unique (an original), we should never live life to please someone else.  Be the best you can, treat everyone with the respect you would want and in turn I hope you will receive it back….

To Be Continued…
